In MAZEWORLD, The Thenix are terrible pure-heart-eater birds from the house of Ahtom, a god of storms. They look like innocent doves until they get close to an innocent person (usually a maiden or a virgin woman), then they attack and dig out the victim' chest, devouring the heart. Then the Thenix takes the place of the devoured heart, turning the person into a cruel summoner of mischievous spirits.
The only way to discover if a person has been taken by a thenix, is by looking for a strange circular symbol on person's chest.
