Alright, it seems this discussion ended in support! (You can see the results of the voting here.) So now I have set the new Monaco as the wiki's new skin. Anonymous users and logged-in users alike will all see the new skin as the default skin, unless they have specified otherwise in their preferences. See where I'm getting at? There may be a time in the future where someone might need to fix some bugs in the skin, or just make it better for some reason. If you edited your monaco to view the skin during voting, you may want to "fix" your login so you're seeing the skin on the MediaWiki:Monaco.css page, rather than the skin on your monaco (which, as of now, will likely be the same exact skin). To do this, you'll probably just be following the same instructions that I put here to view the skin before, except in reverse. First, go to your monaco, click "Edit this page", and delete everything on it. Once you save, you will be left with the instructions to clear your browser's cache (which are there by default) and an empty box. (Right here, the page isn't doing anything, so just message me if you want me to delete the page for you.) Then go to your preferences, click the skin tab, and check the "Let the admins override my skin choice" box. Then click the save button, and you may want to clear your browser's cache just for good measure. Hello again everyone, I have now finished my monaco and I think it's as good as it's gonna get. :P While a few months back, this page was just used as a discussion for the new skin, now it's being used for an official vote on whether this should become the wiki's new skin. The previous discussion is contained under this one under a big line. Please look at the finished skin (instructions below) and vote on whether you support it becoming the wiki's new skin or oppose it. You can also make a comment about its improvement, etc.

To view the monaco, first, go to Special:Preferences, click the Skin tab, make sure the "Let the admins override my skin choice" box is NOT checked (very important, the "Let the admins override my skin choice" box has to be the most problematic thing ever with skins), then set your skin to Sapphire. Then, go to Special:MyPage/monaco.css, click "Edit this page," and paste the following code there. After that, save the page, and follow the directions at the top of the page to clear your browser's cache.

Okay, I believe the voting has ended as of 21:53, January 16, 2010 (UTC) because I got sick... AGAIN... and it's a virus too... AGAIN... (for those of you who haven't heard I got the swine flu for a week about a month and a half ago) and I couldn't get online because I had to like, sleep and crap like that. Yippee. ANYWAY it looks like the result of this vote was +4, with 4 supports, 0 opposes, and 1 neutral. Looks like a majority. Hi everyone! Just to let everyone know, we're considering a new skin for Dragon Roleplaying Adventures wiki to make it stand out a little more. Right now, we're using a pre-set defaut skin, and I'm thinking it would look very cool if we changed the colors around to make a new skin. I'm looking for ideas, and I'd like to hear what the community would like to see in the skin. So if anyone has any suggestions or comments, please put them here. Oh, are you talking about my Monaco? Ha, I'm experiencing some technical difficulties. The purple text was left over from when I was trying to figure out some values, so it doesn't really belong there. I like the code! Looks awesome. Though, since I love dark colors, I might try my own type. However, I don't know all about this, so what stuff do I put for my own monaco(You don't have to use it) where the background is black, the light blue(around the picture) is dark blue, shoutbox and whatever is white right now is black, and text be gold, and where in my Monaco.css do I put it(Example: Color 1)?

I attempted designing a skin like the one you described, and it looked sorta weird. You can find here, in the history. Just copy the coding and paste it here. Or you could copy WoWWiki's monaco and paste it on your monaco, whichever you like better. I've been using a text document in Notepad while tweaking my monaco to remember which value controls which color, and I copy-pasted it here. It may make sense to you, maybe not. It seems like there's a lot of weird stuff I've done that makes sense to me but doesn't make any sense to anyone else. But if it does make sense to you, then you can design your own monaco. Alright, so I went with CC's idea and I designed a green and blue skin, using the following colors:

  • Forest Green (used for Wikia's pre-set Jade skin)
  • Tea Green
  • Celadon
  • Powder Blue

Are you talking about the main text color as in the color of the text you're reading right now? If so, I'm sure there's a way to do it, but I don't know how besides the <span> and <font> tags. This link may be helpful. —Lisa URAQT
